Ola Surfboards & My First Surf Lesson

10th June 2014

I’ve lately developed a small crush which I didn’t think it would be at all possible, I’ve fallen in love with Ola surfboards. These boards are so beautifully handmade and come in an array of colours, that when I first laid eyes on one (the pink one in fact) it actually made me want to try surfing. Yes that’s right, it only takes a pretty surf board to make me want to try, no denying it.

Before setting off on my first surf lesson I wanted to find out a little bit more about this brand and was excited to meet the creator, Michele Puliti at his studio in Pietrasanta. These boards are completely handmade in Italy and custom shaped by the man in question, using US Blanks surfboard foam. It was fascinating to see how creative and passionate he is, a passion which started when he was only 11 years old. Each board is lovingly made with such attention to detail. It truly is art.

So with little conviction I tried my first surf lesson one early morning with my dear friend and surf instructor, Cesare Santilli. It was a totally fun adventure – one which has got me kinda hooked for more. Here is a fun re-cap of me posing with a few surf boards and catching a few waves – no I didn’t get to stand but hopefully one day 😉

Big thanks to Ola Surfboards. Wearing bikini from Tezuk and body suit from Quicksilver.
