Pick A Chair, It’s ProjectUDesign!
Over across the pond something quite exciting is happening. Have you heard of ProjectUDesign? Let me enlighten you. It is basically a competition developed by BiOH, Century Furniture, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and Ultrasued. Students from SCAD had to design eco-friendlier wing chairs which are made of soy-based foam and upholstery made with recycled materials.
Starting with 15 students they have now reached 4 finalists. What’s great is you can take part by voting for them on facebook.
Such a great opportunity to get involved for such a great cause. Interior design is great but even better when we are doing something that is friendlier to the environment.
So go on, help out by voting for your favourite deign. My personal favourite is the Bunscombe design, but they are all so great so its only fair to show them all here on my blog. Go on pick your favourite wing chair!

3rd October 2010 at 11:38 amHi Arianna!
Thank you so much for posting about our social media client,BiOH Polyols': Project UDesign!
We really appreciate you helping to spread the word that sustainable design IS beautiful design!
One thing to make sure your readers are aware of: foam is not green(see my comments comparing foam and 100% natural latex on @ZiaPriven 's post) but foams made partially with polyols derived from a renewable resource-soy- are a BETTER choice than the all oil derived foams that are the current industry standard.
Why?
For each 1 million pounds of BiOH's soy polyols that are used by the flexible foam industry, 84,000 gallons of petroleum are saved! That's why, if everyone works together to make sure they ask for and/or specify foams made with BiOH's soy in their upholstery and bedding (which are not any more expensive) we can, truly, make a huge difference- as an industry- in our oil consumption!
Again, thank you so much for taking your time to write this post and watch for your 3 finalists to be announced tomorrow on http://facebook.com/BiOHFans!
