Al Fresco Dining With Ellen DeGeneres x Royal Doulton

30th May 2017

It’s the Bank holiday blues as we’re probably all feeling the slump today, so to cheer us all up and lighten the mood lets talk al fresco. The season is finally upon us and I couldn’t be more excited! Come warmer and longer days and we are by far nicer people with mood swings slightly at bay. It’s that time of the year that all we want to do is chill with friends and loved ones and totally enjoy each others company out in the open air.

Having mediterranean blood entertaining couldn’t come easier be it brunch, aperitvo, dinner you name it. They call me the hostess with the mostess (just kidding) but seriously having the perfect tableware makes the job so much easier. So you can imagine my excitement when rumour had it that Ellen DeGeneres, my all time favourite American chat show host joined forces with British ceramics brand Royal Doulton to produce a stunning tableware collection.

The ED Crafted by Royal Doulton Collection sees the ED by Ellen brand expand into contemporary tableware. The tableware collection is inspired by both Ellen and Royal Doulton’s love for artisanal, yet simple designs. It really is everything I could dream and imagine. You literally are living the mediterranean dream wherever you may be. Ellen’s style and personality, which is a perfect fit with Royal Doulton, sit at the heart of the collection, inspiring each and every pattern, texture and colour throughout the relaxed and original design.

Featuring four different patterns in four unique colours palette, the range is inspired by Ellen’s love of nature while highlighting natural imperfections. The textured patterns in the range offer a colour palette and texture to suit all interior styles.

I am seriously in love with this collection and my favourite ranges have to be the Cobalt blue chevron and the Polar blue dot. Anything in blue pretty much gets my vote and it is so perfect for summer. For me, what really stands out is that these pieces add the perfect finishing touch to an informal gathering with loved ones but still ooze sophistication and charm. Fun fact: the Polar Blue collection highlights one of Ellen’s favourite words, kindness, adding an element of charm and delight to the collection.

Here you can see some of the gorgeous pieces from the cobalt blue and polar blue range that I used for setting the table for our al fresco brunch. I always like mixing patterns as it makes it far more interesting. When your tableware looks this good there really isn’t much else to add decorative wise. Just let it do all the talking.

It’s all about cherishing special moments and enjoying it with family and friends. It’s so important to make time and summer just happens to bring out the best in us. If you need any incentive then I’m hoping this collection will make you want to host more al fresco gatherings. What’s great is that you can either buy 16 piece sets or all items are sold individually so you can really mix and match just how you like it.

The ED Crafted by Royal Doulton Collection is priced from £8 and is available from Royal Doulton.

I’m kind of surprised the ceramics are from Doulton, not the style I’d expected from them – so crisp, fresh and understated. You’ve styled it all so well.

What a suprise celebrity pairing – but so nice too. Love the pretty dotty style print. You look lovely by the way.
