Winter Is Calling: Time To Unwind!
Even though I work from home, during the weekdays I never have the time to totally unwind in the evenings. Don’t get me wrong, while I am extremely lucky to be able to be my own boss I do tend to work at obscene hours. I’m usually out and about on photo shoots, events, press shows and travel trips, so I tend to find myself writing in the evenings, up until really late.

Usually weekends are where I make a constant effort to unwind, switch off and just relax. Social media plays a big role in what I do, so weekends are very sacred to me. I enjoy nothing more than spending it with family and friends. I always love exploring new places and going for long walks, which I always find it helps clear my head! However with colder days upon us I tend to become more of homebody and my idea of relaxing is simply by staying in, curled up on the sofa with a blanket and watching a good movie.
As we’re heading towards winter, the days are getting shorter and colder and I’m so looking forward to sitting by the fire in my beloved living room and just taking it all in. Sometimes when I have certain deadlines I enjoy nothing more than sitting on my sofa with my laptop and hear the sound of the crackling noise from the fireplace. It conveys such a feeling of ease and content where all our thoughts and problems seem to drift away at the back of our minds. It is the perfect antidote to relieve stress. Recent studies show that sitting before a fireplace causes our blood pressure to drop and leaves us feeling more relaxed and totally hypnotic. Makes perfect sense to me!
Having a fireplace was probably the best thing we did when decorating our home. We kept it simple with an industrial feel, leaving it exposed with bricks. If you are thinking of doing up an existing fireplace then I suggest you have a look at the wide range of choices available from Chesneys. For those of you not in the know, Chesneys is the leading supplier of luxury fireplaces. They have such a beautiful array of gorgeous designs that you really are spoilt for choice, which make these life changing decisions all the more difficult, but in a totally positive way!
So how do you like to refuel? Chesneys are running a fab competition over on their Facebook page Where all you have to do is share how you relax and refuel at the end of a long week, for the chance to win a Classic Christmas Hamper from Fortnum & Mason. Definitely something to look forward to this Christmas 😉 Good luck!
