Lunch Date At Daphne’s Restaurant In The Heart Of Chelsea
Don’t you just love impromptu lunch dates with your bestie?! Well the sun was shining and what better way than to treat ourselves to a spot of Italian in the heart of Chelsea. After a recent refurbishment by celebrated designer Martin Brudnizki, the interior geek got the better of me, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to head down to Daphne’s restaurant and check out their lunch set menus. It’s pretty much a case of where Interiors and food totally make out.
When entering Daphne’s you cannot help but notice the beautiful black opulent entrance doors and its chic decadent style. I like the fact that it is not overbearingly fancy or snobby and far from intimidating but approachable and the ever so friendly staff make you feel at home.
For lunch we decided to try out the set menu. There’s a fab deal currently going on, you can choose between a two course lunch for £21.00 or a three course for £25.00 between 12pm-6pm from Monday to Friday. To start off our lunch date, we chose a bottle of red Passitivo wine. I’m not much of a drinker but I am sucker for good red wine ;).
For my first dish I decided to go for the chicken broth with artichoke & wild garlic capelletti. Trust me, it tastes as good as it sounds. Such a heart warming dish which was perfect for fending off the cold. A sprinkle of grated parmesan and I was indeed a happy girl.
For my second course I decided to keep it clean and lean and opted for the chargrilled salmon with spiced fregola & salsa rossa. I was quite impressed with the large portion – lets be honest it can be so disappointing when you are given measly portions in restaurants, so this was a rather pleasant surprise. Tasty and rather fulfilling, I was very much satisfied.
And then you have dessert, the holy grail of all meals. The sweet toothed girl in me couldn’t resist some pineapple carpaccio with pomegranate & passion fruit sorbet. Just the bright dose of colour itself made me believe it was summer already.
Finishing off with a nice cup of coffee I could say we were rather satisfied and fully stuffed! The problem was trying to get up… All in all we had a great lunch date full of girly chats and great food. A big thank you to all of the staff who were so courteous and friendly. If you’re looking for the perfect lunch spot in Chelsea, then you wont be disappointed with Daphne’s.
